The Danger of Comfort

Writer: Gwendolyn J. JonesGwendolyn J. Jones

I remember staying in an empty relationship for years, just because I was comfortable. For the first half of my life, I lived in isolation. I didn’t go. I didn’t do. I didn’t try, because I was stuck in my cage, trapped behind the bars of COMFORT!

Just because you are comfortable doesn’t mean you are safe. Beware of comfort! He’s an iguana.

Comfort isn’t all bad, but becomes our nemesis when we confuse him with safe! Many hospital patients lie in bed, comfortably, unaware that if they aren’t agitated every so often, they’ll develop painful bedsores.

Be careful, when excessively exposed to the abnormal, it will quickly become your normal!

Consider this .. are you functioning in the abnormal? If so, THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO CONTINUE TO BE YOUR NORMAL!!!! It’s time for some agitation! With proper attention and care, the sores can and will heal!

Challenge every area of your life that brings you comfort today. Make a list, then go through each line and ask the question, “are you safe?”
