The Power of the Personal Pause

Hello my friend,


I'm just writing to check on you. How are you? Like for real? Mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically? How are YOU? When did you last take a moment to truly check in with yourself? Be honest Sis. If it's been a while, that's ok, we practice self-compassion and grace around here, but let this be your sign to pause and reflect. Not sure how to do it? Don't know where to start? Don't you worry, I've got you and I'll share some ways that have helped me.


In our latest podcast episode, we dive into the importance of self-awareness and self-care with a simple yet powerful strategy, one of my favorites: The Personal Pause.  For me, it’s a moment to check in, see how I'm doing, and fine-tune as needed. I know that we don't do this enough as women, so I made sure to include "The Personal Pause" in the podcast. I wanted you to know what it looks like, I wanted you to understand what it feels like for someone to take the time to be concerned about you. If you can't do it daily, at least once a month, while you're listening to the pod, we can pause together, and check in on each other.


I ask questions like:


* Did you need help?

* Did you ask for it?

* Was it helpful?

*What are you reading?

*What are you telling yourself?

*What are you eating?


WE GO IN!! It's important and it matters, so I create space in each episode to check on my girls and prayerfully, gift you with this opportunity to pause and remind yourself that you matter too.


The personal pause is important, we owe it to ourselves and those we love to pause at least weekly, daily preferably, and check in with ourselves. I tell my husband and children often, "I am a better wife and mommy when I take breaks." Monitoring my mental and emotional health is my responsibility. Just like flight attendants recommend as a precautionary measure before takeoff, the pause is how I put my mask on first, it's the safest, most efficient way to show up as my best self to support those I love.
